What we plant

We do the planting side of landscaping. That is the living part of a garden or grounds, from a new lawn to a full replant. We don't build walls, lay patios or do other building work, so if your project needs those, we come in once the hard landscaping is done. Aftercare and maintenance are available as a separate paid service.

  • Planting schemes

The right plants for the space, the soil and the light, put in and mulched. From a tidy-up of what is there to a complete scheme for a garden with nothing in it yet.

  • Lawns and turf

New lawns laid as turf, with the ground cleared, levelled and prepared first so the grass takes and stays level.

  • Trees

Specimen and standard trees for a garden, a driveway or a boundary, planted, staked and tied so they establish straight. Bare-root in winter, potted the rest of the year.

  • Hedges

New hedges along a fence line or around a whole plot, from bare-root or potted plants depending on the season.

  • Beds and borders

New borders cut, edged and planted, or old ones cleared out and replanted. Shrubs, perennials and seasonal colour chosen to look right together and through the year.

  • Moving into a new-build?

Most new-build gardens are turf on compacted ground with nothing else. Read our guide to choosing plants for a new-build garden, or send us the plot and we will plan it with you.

Some of our planting

Gardens and grounds we have planted.

A sunlit back garden: a wide lawn, bark-mulched borders of spiky architectural plants, spiral conifers and a trunked palm, beside a red-brick house and garden building
A front garden planted with a staked young tree, a red-leaved phormium, silvery shrubs and a strip of new turf in a bark-mulched bed edged by a kerb
A rounded bed of young shrubs and a red-leaved phormium in bark mulch beside new turf and block paving, in front of a red-brick house with black-framed windows
Newly laid turf with a staked young tree in a back garden, a paved path along the house wall and a tall laurel hedge behind
The Ramswood sales yard from above: tables of perennials in flower along a gravel path, with a polytunnel and a tall conifer hedge behind

Planted with our own stock

What we plant is our own stock, much of it grown here from young plants on the yard, in the glasshouse and the polytunnels, and some comes in from overseas suppliers.

It means the people who quote your job are the same people who grew the plants. They know what is ready, what does well in this part of the country and what will still look right in five years, and they pick it off the tables themselves.

How a job works

Four steps, and the first two cost nothing. The time from the first message to the first spade in the ground depends on the season and the size of the project.

What it costs

Every visit and every quote is free, with no obligation. The price of the job depends on three things. The labour, the size of the project, and the plants and materials that go in. You get the quote before anything starts, and no job is too small to ask about.

Who you will deal with

A member of the team comes out to visit and quote, and our own team does the planting, with stock from our own nursery. We cover all of the North West from our nursery in Rixton.
